 About the Emirates Osteoporosis Society
The
Emirates Osteoporosis Society (EOS) was
established on 2nd November 2006. The need for
an osteoporosis society in the UAE arose from
the continuously increasing prevalence of low
bone mass among the residents of the UAE. This
required the implementation of effective
measures to deal with the problem through the
promotion of excellence in practice, education,
and the awareness of osteoporosis throughout the
United Arab Emirates. It is essential to promote
public health education on the subject of
osteoporosis and strategically work towards
encourage different age groups in the community
to attain peak bone mass and to prevent bone
loss.
The EOS was accepted as a full member of the
International Osteoporosis Foundation in March
2007. EOS has successfully organized the launch
of world osteoporosis day in Dubai on 20th &
21st October 2007.
